Scout (aka Young Cutie!)

Scout, a beautiful Appaloosa colt, was discarded at auction.  He was skin and bones thin and pleaded with his eyes for someone to save and care for him.  We could not look away and now he is forever safe and loved.  We had the vet out immediately and it was agreed to implement a slow re-feed initially as he had a body score of only 2.  Initially, he was in “starvation mode” - only caring for the food in front of him - but eventually he let volunteers touch him and care for him.  His hooves were likely never trimmed at an age of around 2.5 years, but we have since gotten them in good shape. Scout continues to flourish and grow strong working with our trainer Ally.  Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with EMP, a neurological disease, and although he is not yet symptomatic, he may never be a ridable horse.  We will not know for sure until we see how he progresses over the next year.
